Inspired after visiting various ghost towns in the American West, businessman R.B. Coburn came up with the idea for Ghost Town in the Sky in 1960. This exciting western-themed amusement park features a replica western town, staged gunfights, live music, crafts, shows and a mile-high roller coaster. With a superb natural setting situated at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains, visitors arrive at the park via a chair lift. Ghost Town in the Sky is located west of Asheville in outer Maggie Valley.
