Cataloochee Ski Area, North Carolina’s first ski area to open and the last one to close each season, features ten slopes and trails accessed by five total lifts. It also is the first ski area in the state to make and maintain its own snow, which attributes to a more consistent experience regardless of the date of visit. Other activities at the resort include a snowboard park and six lanes of snowtubing with lessons and, rentals are available. Cataloochee is located approximately four miles north of Maggie Valley just west of Asheville.
Open daily Dec - Mar; Day skiing 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., night skiing 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Day pass lift rates: Adults $27 weekdays, $46 weekends & holidays; Students $23 weekdays, $46 weekends & holidays; Children (7-12) $20 weekdays, $36 weekends & holidays
